Fabulous French Art Deco Amboyna pedestal desk attributed to Paul Follot . The leather top with gold tooled panels and surrounded by a wood border which has a carved and molded edge. The center section has one drawer with carved undulating details. The pedestals with cupboard doors having ebony stringing forming six panels and all resting on round tapering feet.
Paul Follot (1870-1941) born and schooled in France, worked at Maison Moderne and then became the director of Au Bon Marche department store, and later co-director of the Modern French furniture Section of Waring and Gillow in Paris. His highly stylized carved gilt wood frames are considered the embodiment of the Continental Art Deco style.
